John C. Scott Named New VP of Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility for Subway®

Subway® has announced the appointment of John C. Scott as Vice President of Global Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility. In his role, Scott will oversee the global agenda for an integrated sustainability and CSR program in collaboration with all departments and partners in the Subway® family.

"Social responsibility and sustainability are embedded in who we are as a brand," said Joe Tripodi, Chief Marketing Officer of Subway® restaurants. "John shares our deep commitment to have a positive impact on the communities our franchisees and restaurants serve worldwide. He has the extensive experience and strategic thinking to ensure Subway continues to operate as a socially and environmentally responsible company. John will help our brand expand our sustainability commitments and lead us as we explore new ways to enhance our business practices responsibly."

This appointment is just one of several commitments that Subway® has made to improve its food and operations, while minimizing its impact on the environment, including partnering with more than 150 U.S. farmers to provide safe, fresh and nutritious food. In 2016, the company reached its commitment to only serve chicken in the U.S. that is raised without antibiotics, and Subway® also began listing calories on menu panels two years before FDA requirements; among many other initiatives.

"I am pleased to be joining Subway® and a team that has made great strides to build the company's sustainable and responsible practices," Scott says. "Subway is in a strong position to build upon the investments already made and I look forward to helping the company continue to have a positive impact on our customers, franchisees, supply chain and environment."

Subway® also announced that Trevor Haynes has been promoted to Chief Business Development Officer. Haynes served as Vice President of Operations for the last three years, and in his new role he will support the brand’s global directors in their efforts to build teams and business around the globe.

“In today’s highly competitive marketplace, each team will be able to benefit from the knowledge and experience Trevor will bring to his new role,” explained Subway® president and CEO Suzanne Greco. “The 11 years of global experience Trevor brings, and his deep understanding of international markets, will allow him to provide a critical perspective to the Regional Directors and help each identify and overcome the challenges they face.”

Red Lobster Launches Loyalty Program

Red Lobster has announced the launch of a new app-based loyalty program that allows guests to earn points and redeem tasty rewards. As part of the rewards program, members earn one point for every dollar spent at Red Lobster locations, and they can redeem rewards (worth 125 points) during a future restaurant visit. There are three tasty options for rewards. As a welcome bonus, guests who sign up for the new program will get 75 free points.

“We want our loyal guests to know how much we appreciate them, so we designed a program that rewards them for their love of seafood,” explained Red Lobster President Salli Setta. “Guests can earn points simply by dining with us, and the My Red Lobster Rewards app makes it easy to accumulate, track, and redeem points right from their mobile phone.”

The app also allows guests to queue up on the wait list at their local Red Lobster restaurant, and soon will be able to place “to-go” orders via the mobile app.
