The 2014 Holiday shopping season is in full swing. For the next few weeks, consumers will invade retail stores, and in addition to retailers, restaurants will reap the benefits of holiday shopping.
Casual dining and QSRs thrive during this time, and smart businesses know that not only do food and beverage sales increase — gift cards will be an important part of revenue. As an industry, gift cards eclipsed $118 billion last year, an eight percent increase over 2012. Sure, gift cards offer your guests a quick and easy gift idea, but the stats don’t lie. Sixty-one percent of gift card holders spend more than the amount of their gift card, with 75 percent of those individuals spending more than 60 percent over original card value.
