Proprietary Gift Card
The gift card program is said to offer an electronic and secure alternative to paper gift certificates and includes card design and production, point-of-sale (POS) transaction processing, merchant reporting, help desk support, and database maintenance. In addition, the program expands the market for proprietary stored-valued cards by enabling hotels, resort, and restaurants to brand and launch their own gift cards.
The provider's clients first select the card design, customizing it with their name, logo, and artwork. Hotels and restaurants also can choose from different strategies on how to run their program. Gift cards can be pre-denominated with a specific amounts on the card's face, or non-denominated so that merchants, from the POS terminal, can add value to an account when it is sold to a customer. Value can be added and deducted from a gift card with each use. Additionally, the provider has partnered with leading gift and loyalty card providers to integrate card issuance and acceptance through their POS network.
Gift card transactions are handled online, and card accounts and transactions are stored in a central database. Internet reporting is available to the merchant for tracking activity and outstanding liabilities. The provider's customer service features a toll free Interactive Voice Response line for cardholders.
