KoalaPlay Group Creates Colossal Interactive Water Play Structure Inside Six Flags Over Georgia
Skull Island to Occupy More Than an Acre as Park's Newest Attraction
Denver, CO - Thrill-seekers looking to cool off from the sizzling Georgia summers will have a new attraction to visit that's guaranteed to keep them soaking wet. Tucked inside the Six Flags Over Georgia theme park guests will find an unexpected treasure.
Among the speeding roller coasters, standing drop rides and crashing bumper cars lies Skull Island, the world's largest interactive water play structure to be built within a dry theme park. Located between the Great American Scream Machine and Southern Star Amphitheater, the 66-foot high, 50,000-sq. foot pirate-themed water attraction will deliver some interactive refreshment to guests when it opens Memorial Weekend 2005.
KoalaPlay Group, the commercial design and development division of Koala Corp., originated the multi-level, three-tower water play attraction specifically for Six Flags. The company blended its WaterColorsĂ” and Discovery TreehouseĂ” products together, added two tipping buckets, a volcano geyser, six water slides and hundreds of interactive water features to create a sensational family experience.
"The addition of Skull Island makes Six Flags Over Georgia an even more complete summer destination for families," said Melinda Ashcraft, vice president and general manager of Six Flags Over Georgia. "We are known for having one-of-a-kind, spectacular attractions and that's why KoalaPlay Group's innovative play structure is a perfect fit."
An eight-foot high pirate skull tipping bucket crowns the tallest tower and drenches guest with a rush of over 1,100 gallons of water every few minutes. But the fun doesn't stop there. The Shipwreck tower overflows with 750 gallons of water flooding the planks and the 50-foot high volcano erupts with a geyser of water blasting 80 feet into the air.
Guests can explore 15 interactive, climbable platforms and hundreds of interactive water blasters, sprayers, fountains, buckets, pumps and water wheels as they make their way through the play structure.
"This water attraction is unlike anything seen in other dry theme parks," said Steve Wagner, vice president of sales and marketing at KoalaPlay Group. "It is massive in size, creatively themed, and delivers more play value than a typical water ride. Skull Island will keep guests in the park longer and encourage them to return more frequently to discover all this water attraction has to offer."
KoalaPlay Group partnered with ProSlide Technology Inc. to weave six slides, ranging from six feet to 42 feet in height, throughout the structure. World-renowned theming experts from KoalaPlay Group designed thatch-roofed canopies, treasure chests, water cannons and palm trees to perfect the island motif.
