Koalaplay Group And Splashtacular Bring The Zoo And Outer Space Closer To Families At Two New Michigan High School Water Attractions

Denver, CO - Creativity and imagination transformed two Michigan high school swimming pools into a wild zoo adventure and an exploration of outer space. KoalaPlay Group, the commercial design and development division of Koala Corp., collaborated with Splashtacular, Inc. and the Huron Valley School District to create the water environments at athletic facilities at Milford High School in Highland and Lakeland High School in White Lake.
KoalaPlay Group's internationally recognized theming department worked with Splashtacular to design the themes for both pools. KoalaPlay Group built and installed a uniquely interactive zoo-themed pool area at Milford High School. A larger-than-life 16-foot gorilla weighing in at 2,000 pounds - more than three times the average adult male gorilla - towers over the pool. Splashtacular's snake-themed waterslide lies at the gorilla's feet. There is also a fort-themed water play area featuring many interactive water elements, such as a life-sized elephant and rhinoceros that blast water.
"The themes for the swimming centers were chosen by our students, who were able to provide creative input and explore their imaginations. As we continue to partner with our communities, we look for safe places like the fitness and swimming centers where families can spend quality time together," said Dr. Robert O'Brien, superintendent, Huron Valley Schools.
At Lakeland High School, visitors can explore a water-blasting Martian guarding a space ship and slide down a two-story comet blazing across the sky as part of the outer space theme. Replicas of planets such as Saturn and Pluto splash swimmers and guest can also enjoy climbing aboard a partially submerged rocket as it moves up and down and spray water from the alien ship and "space speeder" interactives.
"Partnering with Huron Valley School District and Splashtacular was a unique opportunity to provide creative talent and technical resources to produce innovative, custom installations," said Steve Wagner, vice president of sales and marketing, KoalaPlay Group. "By incorporating our play areas into its fitness and swimming centers, the school district can attract even more residents who value family friendly atmospheres."
"This truly was a collaborative effort producing dramatic results. These projects are considered showcases for what can be done with theming for indoor water parks," said Hal Shapiro, Director of Play Pool Products, Splashtacular.
