Veicon Technologyis a new V-Link Internet access device specifically designed for hotel guestrooms and public meeting facilities. According to the manufacturer, the device can provide hotel management with low maintenance, trouble-free Internet access points where visitors can check their own email accounts, access the Internet, and use MS Office tools.

Unlike low-resolution TV-based Internet access devices, this tool provides a high-resolution graphic display and full access to standard Internet and office productivity tools. The manufacturer states that the device's terminals are designed to provide greater security for both users and the network than personal computers, and there is no in-room PC to maintain.

With this device, users can access their own email accounts and productivity applications with security. Since there is no disk storage on this device, user information is not stored after the user logs off. In addition, the manufacturer states that their patented software technology wipes all evidence of each user's private files and passwords off the main server and protects the server from hotel visitor hacker attacks.

This tool's devices include a 15-in. display screen, mouse, keyboard, and 10/100baseT network interface, which run Microsoft's thin-client Windows environment. The tool supports many email clients, and local and network printing. Hotel guests can enter their credit card number to purchase a block of time, and an automatic credit card reader is available as an option for guests, allowing hotels to place the devices in lobbies and around meeting rooms.
