Industry Veteran Michael Spencer Returns To The Sunset Strip As General Manager Of The Grafton On Sunset Hotel
In addition to overseeing all operations for the 108 room property, Spencer will be developing programs, activities and marketing initiatives, which will be specifically targeted to the young Hollywood community.
"The Sunset Strip has evolved so dramatically over the last five years – the energy and vibe are amazing. I am very excited to be a part of it again and to capture the essence in our hotel. I look forward to providing our clientele with the same high energy and standard of service by which we have been defined," commented Spencer.
Mr. Spencer left the hotel business in 2000 to fulfill his entrepreneurial spirit: He conceptualized and opened local hotspot Abuelita's Mexican Restaurant in Topanga which has garnered the Sterling Silver Award as one of the top 20 Mexican restaurants in Southern California. With his restaurant running smoothly and profitably, Spencer returned to the hotel business in December, 2003, in the OLS corporate offices.
Spencer's career in hospitality began over a decade ago when he became the manager of Carlos and Charlie's in West Hollywood, handling the day-to-day operations of the large Sunset Blvd Nightclub and Restaurant. Spencer then spent five years as General Manager for OLS, where he oversaw operations, including revenue management, marketing and food and beverage sales for the company's hotels in Southern and Northern California. During that time, he served as Controller of another OLS property, Le Montrose also in West Hollywood. Spencer graduated from University of California, Los Angeles in 1994.
The Grafton on sunset opened in August, 2000 and is the home to the renowned Balboa restaurant. Located on one of the most famous boulevards in the world, the hotel is a modern urban boutique facility which exudes a vibrant playful ambiance infused with a touch of Hollywood's glamorous fifties era.
