HEDNA Adopts New GDS Switchover Standard

A new GDS switchover standard adopted by the Hotel Electronic Distribution Association (HEDNA) will cut down on the switchover notification period and allow communication by e-mail.
Currently, each time single or multiple hotels change representation by a GDS, it requirews a letter and 30-day notification. Now, each GDS will allow the change with only 10 days' notice, and will allow e-mail communication of the status change. In an emergency, the switchover can be done within three days.
"This new switchover procedure is extremely important to hotel companies," said HEDNA President Caryl S. Helsel. "With the rapidly changing environment in distribution, we needed the commitment of the GDSs to switch properties more quickly and efficiently via electronic means. This effort again demonstrates HEDNA's ability to work with numerous affected entities to make positive change via our strong committee structure."
