ECOLE HOTELIERE DE LAUSANNE LAUNCHES MASTER IN HOSPITALITY ADMINISTRATION PROGRAMME

Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, a leading international business school for
the hospitality industry, will in October welcome the first students to its
Master in Hospitality Administration (MHA) programme, after a successful
pilot course. Specifically tailored to the needs of the hospitality
industry, the MHA prepares students to become tomorrow's leaders.

Given the current difficult job market in the US, EHL has seen a
substantial increase in applications from US students interested in taking
post-graduate degrees in hospitality. Aimed at ambitious and talented
professionals who want to take their career to the highest levels in the
hospitality industry, EHL's 14-month MHA programme combines business
administration skills, exposure to practical work and foreign languages.
The MHA programme offers excellent international career perspectives in a
variety of businesses ranging from cruise liners, clinics and health spas,
clubs and theme parks management to consultancy, to more traditional
occupations such as hotel and restaurant management.

The hospitality industry has a huge growth potential and is a very
promising sector in terms of career development as $5 billion* are expected
to be spent every day by travellers globally in the next 10 years. "The
demand for highly skilled hospitality business managers will increase
tremendously and the benefits of being trained in Switzerland in a leading
business school such as EHL can be a determining factor in reaching top
positions in the hospitality industry," said Christina Norton, Director of
the MHA programme.

The MHA is an intensive 14-month programme in English that was developed
after in-depth research amongst industry leaders to ensure that it reflects
the hospitality industry's needs. A unique feature of the course is that
students are coached in how to develop the right attitude and approach to
hold senior management positions in the hospitality industry or to launch
an entrepreneurial career. "Being a leader is not only about knowledge,
it's also about attitude and knowing how to behave," said Christina.

Based on a hands-on approach to management and supported by high-quality
theoretical instruction, the course focuses on analytical, managerial and
strategic skills. Students receive a solid training in finance, marketing,
operations and staff management, business strategy, communications, foreign
languages and IT. Aman Sachdev, a current MHA students said: "I chose the
MHA course because I will not be limited to only working in hotels. I will
have greater freedom of movement and can consider positions in a variety of
hospitality businesses."

Switzerland is considered to be one of the best country in the world to
train for a career in hospitality. As well as being one of the safest
countries in the world, Switzerland is internationally recognised for its
service traditions and values. With over a century of experience in
providing hospitality education and an ingrained service tradition, EHL has
always placed a strong emphasis on the culture of service and
‘savoir-vivre', both of which are qualities essential for a good manager in
the hospitality industry.

Fully immersed in an international environment, MHA students develop
inter-personal skills that are very important in a global industry such as
hospitality. With over 75 nationalities represented on EHL's campus,
students learn to work and interact with people from different cultural
backgrounds, while having the opportunity to gain global business
perspectives and broaden their career horizons.

MHA applicants need to hold an undergraduate programme or equivalent and to
have at least two years of work experience. The school has a strict
admission policy to ensure that the best applicants, who are most likely to
succeed are accepted. In addition to an excellent academic track-record,
they will have to demonstrate that they already possess the people skills
and attitudes needed in a service business. Further information and
