"Denver's Best Hotel" Sets Itself Apart Once Again

Hotel Teatro Joins The Exclusive Club of Small Luxury Hotels of the World

NEW YORK, January 8, 2003 - Hotel Teatro, "Denver's Best Hotel," according to Zagat 2003, is starting off the new year properly by joining the exclusive membership of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. The addition of this luxury boutique hotel brings the group's total to 310 luxury properties in 50 countries around the globe. Hotel Teatro now joins the likes of some of the world's best hotels such as Post Ranch Inn, The Stafford in London, Turtle Island in Fiji and Banyan Tree in Phuket. According to Ed Donaldson, VP of Marketing for the Americas, "The addition of Hotel Teatro is perfect. It is a beautiful hotel with great amenities and service that now gives SLH a presence in a fantastic city like Denver."

Centrally located across from the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, just two blocks from the Colorado Convention Center and steps away from the nightlife of Lower Downtown's "LoDo" Historic District, Hotel Teatro (whose name was inspired by the building's proximity to the performing arts center) offers ideal accommodations for the business traveler or those in search of a weekend getaway. Unique costumes and photographs from past theatrical productions of the Denver Center Theatre Company decorate the hotel lobby and throughout the hotel's 111 guest rooms. The newly refurbished rooms feature 12-foot ceilings, custom built cherry wood armoires and headboards, luxurious damask fabrics, contemporary art deco furniture and luxurious touches like down comforters, as well as having complimentary high-speed Internet access. Additionally, the hotel offers a number of suites with sweeping views of the Rocky Mountains decorated in a variety of styles.

The rooms are not the only sumptuous part of the hotel. Acclaimed chef/restaurateur Kevin Taylor has topped a 15-year culinary career with two outstanding restaurants located in the hotel- Restaurant Kevin Taylor and jou- jou. In addition to cooking at Restaurant Kevin Taylor and overseeing the kitchen at jou jou, Taylor is responsible for banquets and catering up to 200 and 24-hour room service. The alliance between Hotel Teatro and Chef Kevin Taylor provides creativity, excellence and the unparalleled choice for dining and entertaining in downtown Denver.

Originally constructed in 1911 as The Denver Tramway Building and after a stint as part of Denver University, developers Astonbridge Partners and David Owen Tyrba Architects transformed the historic building into a luxury hotel in the late 90's.
