Meyer Jabara Hotels re-enters the market with this upscale property sure to appeal to the more than 10 million leisure and business travelers visiting Fort Lauderdale annually
Hotel franchisor Choice Hotels International, Inc., developer Hotel Motel Inc., and property manager Meyer Jabara Hotels (MJH) broke ground here last week on the five-story, 104-room Cambria, scheduled to open in 2020. The asset, located at 2231 N. Ocean Blvd., will be one of the only hotels within walking distance to public beaches in the city’s North Beach area. The hotel will boast ocean views and convenient access to The Strip, the city’s popular waterfront promenade with dining and retail options, and will be a short drive from the Broward County Convention Center; Port Everglades, one of the world’s busiest cruise terminals; and several corporate headquarters, including DHL Solutions America, SATO Global Solutions, and Spirit Airlines.
“We are thrilled that construction on the Cambria Fort Lauderdale Beach is underway,” said Justin Jabara, vice president of development and acquisition for Meyer Jabara Hotels. “It’s fantastic to be operating once again in this destination market, and we are especially pleased that our re-entry is with Choice Hotels. While this is the sixth Cambria Hotel in our portfolio, it’s truly one-of-a-kind in its design and services offering. We believe this Cambria will quickly set the lodging standard for the area with its open concept lobby, unique restaurant and cocktail lounge, flexible meeting space, state-of-the-art fitness center, swimming pool and retail space.”
Present at the groundbreaking were hotel owner Jai Motwani, president and CEO of Hotel Motel, Inc.;
Steve Glassman, District 2 Commissioner of Fort Lauderdale; Janis Cannon, senior vice president, upscale brands, Choice Hotels; Mark Shalala, vice president, franchise development, upscale brands, Choice Hotels; Javier Holtz, CEO, Marquis Bank; Steve Sandzone, president, Marquis Bank; Ed Masi, president, Seawood Builders; William (Bill) Meyer, chairman of Meyer Jabara Hotels; and Justin Jabara.
“At Cambria, two of the most important factors we consider when deciding to enter a new market – or expand the brand’s presence in an existing market – is location and our development partners,” Cannon said. “Our goal is to bring Cambria Hotels to areas with a healthy mix of business and leisure demand, and we work with the industry’s top developers to do so. With countless leisure attractions, renowned beaches, and a thriving business community, Fort Lauderdale is the ideal location for Cambria Hotels; this is our second property in this market, joining the Cambria Hotel Fort Lauderdale Airport South & Cruise Port. We look forward to working with Jai and his team to bring the vision for this tremendous hotel to life.”
The Cambria Hotel Fort Lauderdale Beach will feature upscale amenities, including:
Under the design focus of Jessica Motwani and Hospitality Furnishings & Design Inc., the Cambria Fort Lauderdale will evoke a coastal modern aesthetic. The raw, natural materials of stone and wood will be complemented with clean, soft, modern finishes that provide a therapeutic space for all guests. Sandy tans and cool greys mingle with deep cerulean bringing the relaxing beachfront into the space and enabling guests to feel the presence of the coast resulting in a relaxed and rejuvenating experience.
“Choice Hotels has been a phenomenal collaborator from the moment we first signed our franchise agreement, and with Meyer Jabara’s management in play, I am confident this hotel will emerge as a market leader,” said Motwani. “The Cambria Hotel Fort Lauderdale Beach will be perfect for travelers searching for a unique, upscale experience. We can’t wait to provide our guests with a memorable hotel stay.”
