With the Touch bins concept Brabantia has consciously sought a different, new solution for waste collecting. After thorough analysis, we drew up a specification which the waste bins had to meet as an absolute minimum:

1. The lid must be able to be opened and closed easily so that the user can even use the bin with their hands full
2. As with the pedal bins, the (id must close silently
3. The waste bin must take standard bin liners
4. The opening must be big enough to be able to empty a dustpan into it without spilling
5. To prevent the lid from getting dirty quickly, the lids on the new bins must open upwards
6. Bin liners must be easy to change and should not be visible when fitted
7. The waste bin must be easy to move, even when full
8. The entire construction and the choice of materials and coatings should be such that Brabantia can provide a minimum of a 10 year guarantee
9. The design must be original and contemporary, with a solid image, and able to be made in several colours and materials
10. The structure and components must be easily recyclable at the end of their life and which pollute the atmosphere as little as possible

• Dampened lid hinge enables the lid to open and close silently (no irritating clattering)
• Large opening 265 mm diameter - big enough to empty a dust pan without spilling
• Unique 'Soft touch' closing - slight pressure (hands-free operation possible) and the Lid opens silently lid closes simply by clicking shut
• Removable stainless steel lid unit with a wide plastic rim - bin liners easy to change and invisible when fitted
• Sturdy hand grips make the Touch bin easy to move even when full
• Robust round body made of high-grade chromium steel or steel plate with corrosion resistant Galfan coating - easy to clean
• Takes standard 50 or 60 litre bin liners matching 'SmartFix' bin liners available
• Ventilation holes in the inner bucket ensure that excess air built up when the bin liner is inserted can escape and prevent a vacuum when removing the bin liner
• Plastic base - prevents damage to the floor
