AAHOA Hospitality's New Direction Announced
ATLANTA, Georgia - MarketInk, publishers of AAHOA Hospitality magazine have announced that beginning January 1, 2002 the magazine will have a new name, outlook and focus. The premier edition of Today's Hospitality ... The Educational Magazine for Lodging Entrepreneurs will be unveiled to thousands of hotel owners throughout the country in early-January, providing educational resources and insights on the diverse spectrum of hospitality for a success-oriented readership.
"Over the past eight-years, MarketInk has created a monthly publication for a specific, targeted audience," said Cindy Maynard, publisher of Today's Hospitality. "There is a real need in our industry today for a highly-focused, educational publication that will serve all hoteliers—we will fill that need."
"We are thrilled to have our new publication so well received within the hospitality industry," explained Wendy Nelson, co-publisher and National Sales Director of Today's Hospitality. "My job is to ensure that we deliver extraordinary value to all of our advertisers in this difficult economic time - we have a great opportunity to be of service to both our readers and industry suppliers." Initial circulation is projected to be about 23,000 magazines a month exclusively to hotel owners industry-wide.
Today's Hospitality magazine will feature informative articles from lodging's top consultants and educators, news and trends, interviews with CEOs and operators, and highlights of today's competitive hospitality environment. Today's Hospitality Educational Forum is a new concept that will be an integral part of the innovative mission for the magazine. The Forum will invite leaders in hospitality to actively participate to ensure that the best educational information reaches those who are in need of it the most—today's hotel owners.
"The history of our company is about providing service to hospitality and with this new magazine we intend to enhance and broaden that tradition," explained Cindy Maynard. "Over time, it is our goal is to use The Forum to bridge the information gap that now exists within our industry—too often good information does not reach the people who could benefit from it the most."
According to Mary Mahoney, president and CEO of Howard Johnson International, Inc., there is a critical need for education within the hotel industry. "The hotel industry will benefit from access to educational training tools through a universally available publication," says Mahoney. "Today's Hospitality and its innovative approach to education can help us to provide the essential base of education that is so critical to our franchisees success."
Ray Sawyer, president of Budget Host International, also understands that communication and knowledge are critical to the success of the hotel industry. "Today's hotelier faces difficult challenges during volatile economic times, therefore the need and demand for information and ongoing education is even greater for all property owners. As a franchisor who supports the training and professional development of our franchisees, we appreciate this industry-wide publication that will serve as the foundation of our collective growth and prosperity."
"The bottom line is that we are all in this industry together, and we need answers, up-to-date information, and business partners we can depend on through the good and bad times," says Alan L. Tallis, executive vice president/ chief development officer, La Quinta Inns International. "Now the industry has a unique publication that opens the door to higher learning through the academic community, hospitality specialists, global trainers, and the industry's best minds."
The evolution of Today's Hospitality coincides with the mutually agreed upon ending of the long-standing relationship between the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) and MarketInk on December 31, 2001. "Every good relationship evolves and allows both entities to grow and expand," explained Wendy Nelson. "MarketInk and AAHOA have simply chosen to grow our respective interests in different directions."
In upcoming issues expect articles on a vast array of issues that challenge the lodging industry. "We live in a different world; it's time for a different outlook and a different level of magazine," commented Cindy Maynard. "We believe that we are properly positioned to make Today's Hospitality a valuable tool for both advertisers and our readership…there is no limit to where we believe we can go today."
