Chicago-based specialty burger restaurant cuts line times in half and improves customer service and reporting with mPOS

Leading mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) device provider Infinite Peripherals, Inc. (IPC) has teamed with Digital Dining to deliver a mobile POS solution to Butcher and the Burger, a Chicago-based specialty “build your own burger” restaurant. Using DD Mobile Digital Dining software along with the Infinite Peripherals Infinea Tab 2 device for the Apple iPad 2, the restaurant has cut its line times in half, improved customer service and developed a more streamlined reporting process.

At Butcher and the Burger, Chef Allen Sternweiler offers Chicagoans an innovative dining concept that marries a butcher shop and made-to-order burger counter, featuring prime cuts of locally sourced meats and an assortment of all-natural signature seasoning blends.

“We approached Digital Dining and Infinite Peripherals because we wanted an mPOS system based on iPad technology, and they delivered the best system when it comes to customized orders,” said Butcher and the Burger General Manager Preston Owen. “Our menu is based upon ‘building your own burger,’ so we needed a flexible POS system with many options for order customization all on one screen. We’ve worked with other systems, and this was the only one that allowed us to give customers the exact orders they want without having to communicate too much with the kitchen about what’s not on the ticket, allowing us to service our clientele quickly and efficiently.”

Simple interface ensures order accuracy, improves customer service
The DD Mobile software and Infinea Tab provide Butcher and the Burger with a simple, clean interface that allows the restaurant to customize orders properly and easily read them back to customers, ensuring order accuracy. For example, an “instructions” option can be used for requests such as “light salt” or “do not toast bread.”

Although orders normally are taken at the counter, staff easily can process them from customer tables via the mPOS-enabled iPad, as needed. Also, training new hires on the system is easy, as most people are familiar with iOS technology.

Improved reporting options ease backend operations
Reporting is seamless with the Digital Dining/Infinite Peripherals mPOS system, which tracks hourly/daily sales, inventory, employee clock-ins/clock-outs, labor reports, pay periods and more. And the system offers many reports that are critical to Butcher and the Burger in terms of backend and financial operations.

“We are thrilled to have partnered with Digital Dining again to deliver a successful mPOS system to Butcher and the Burger,” said Victor Bobadilla, channel development manager at Infinite Peripherals. “Its results are indicative of what mPOS can do for restaurants in the realm of customer service and reporting.”
